Billing software for telecom and IT service providers

For two and a half years we have been building a UK billing and revenue-assurance platform for telecom resellers and MSPs. This page sets out what it does and how its rules shape the engineering.

One long engagement, still running

Our work in this sector is one platform. A UK billing software company serving telecom resellers, MSPs and wholesale providers needed a long-term engineering partner to carry the core of its product. We have been building it for two and a half years, on Laravel and Next.js, and it is live on several customer installations. The product and the company stay unnamed here. We have no other telecom project to show you, and no published work on network or switching systems.

The problem it solves

Resellers and MSPs bill from call records, recurring services and one-off charges, and they buy from several carriers. Margin leaks whenever a supplier invoice and their own call records disagree. So the system has to bill correctly, collect the money and reconcile what the suppliers charged, and every pound has to be accounted for along the way.

What we build

How the rules shape the engineering

A locked invoice is a design decision with consequences everywhere. Nothing can quietly edit a published bill, so every correction has to exist as its own document, and that document has to flow through the ledger, the statements and the accounting sync. Nightly balance checks exist for a similar reason: if two figures that should agree have drifted apart, someone should hear about it the next morning, not at year-end.

Change is the other risk. On a system this financial, a small fix in one place can alter an invoice somewhere else. An automated test suite running to thousands of checks runs on every change, and it is what makes continued development safe on installations already in use.

Questions from telecom and IT providers

Can we buy this platform from you?

No. It is our client's product, and we can't name it. What we can offer is the same engineering on your own billing system, whether that means building one or taking over an existing one.

Does your experience cover network systems?

Not in our published work, which is on the billing, payments and accounting side. If you need work on switching or network equipment, you probably need a different kind of supplier.

Where does your margin go missing?

Tell us how you bill today, which carriers you buy from and what your accounts team reconciles by hand. We will tell you where we would start.

We reply within one business day (IST).
