Bootstrap development

Build responsive, mobile-first web applications withprofessional Bootstrap development services

Bootstrap gives you working grids, forms, modals and tables straight away, which makes it practical for admin tools and internal systems. We build custom Bootstrap 5 themes, and upgrade older projects still tied to jQuery and Bootstrap 3 or 4.

What Bootstrap work covers

Bootstrap is a good fit for specific jobs, and these are the ones we take on.

  • Admin screens and internal tools

Staff-facing tables, filters and forms, where getting usable screens quickly matters more than a distinctive look.

  • Custom Sass themes

Overriding Bootstrap's Sass variables and importing only the parts you use, so your site doesn't look like the default and doesn't ship unused CSS.

  • Upgrades from Bootstrap 3 and 4

Replacing renamed classes and data attributes, then rewriting the jQuery that relied on the old plugins, one screen at a time.

  • Dark mode on 5.3

Adding colour modes through data-bs-theme and CSS variables, including a toggle, which Bootstrap leaves for you to build.

Bootstrap versions, as of October 2026

From Bootstrap's own version list and migration guide.

  • Build on 5.3

Version 5.3.8 is the latest stable release and v5 is the current major. Its bundle includes Popper for dropdowns, tooltips and popovers.

  • Version 6 is in alpha

Bootstrap lists 6.0 as an upcoming major, at v6.0.0-alpha.1. We wouldn't start production work on an alpha, but we keep custom overrides small so that a later move is easier.

  • Version 4 stopped at 4.6.2

Bootstrap's list shows 4.6.2 as the last v4 update and 3.4.1 as the last v3. Projects on either are working with frozen code and, often, an old jQuery.

What moving to Bootstrap 5 changes

It is more than swapping one file, which is why upgrades are often underestimated.

  • jQuery is gone

Bootstrap 5 dropped jQuery and rewrote its plugins in plain JavaScript. Your own scripts may still use jQuery, so you decide whether to keep it for them or remove it as well.

  • Attributes and classes renamed

data-toggle becomes data-bs-toggle, and left and right become start and end: ml-* to ms-*, float-left to float-start, text-right to text-end. A search and replace gets you most of the way.

  • Old browsers dropped

Bootstrap 5 ended support for Internet Explorer 10 and 11. If you have users on those, sort that out first, because the new version won't work for them.

  • When not to use Bootstrap

If your brand depends on a distinctive interface, you may end up overriding most of it. A theme built with Tailwind or plain CSS can then be less work.

How an upgrade or theme runs

We count what is actually used before estimating anything.

  1. Audit what is in use

We list the Bootstrap components, custom overrides and jQuery plugins your screens depend on, as these set the size of the job.

  2. Set up the Sass build

Your colours and spacing go in as variable overrides, in place of editing Bootstrap's files, so future updates remain possible.

  3. Upgrade screen by screen

We start with shared layouts and navigation, then move through the remaining screens, and you review them in demos, weekly on most projects.

  4. Test the interactive parts

Modals, dropdowns and form validation get the closest attention, because renamed attributes fail silently rather than with an error.

Pricing Bootstrap work

Screens and custom JavaScript are the things that drive an estimate.

Upgrades can be quoted at a fixed price after the audit, because the number of screens and plugins is known by then. Open-ended interface changes are simpler on an hourly basis, from $20/h in USD and invoiced in USD, GBP, EUR or INR, or through a dedicated developer.

We are an engineering team in India with 3–5 hours of overlap with the UK and Europe; US calls by appointment. In the shared hours, your staff can try upgraded screens and report problems while we are still at our desks. If the screens sit on an old PHP system, the PHP and CodeIgniter pages cover that side of the job.

Why we don't list Bootstrap clients

Most of our work is delivered under NDA, so many projects cannot be named.

Internal admin systems are the least likely to be shown in public anyway, so this page describes how we handle a Bootstrap job and not who it was for. Sharing a few of your own screens is the better starting point.

Questions about Bootstrap

Often asked by teams running an older version.

Is Bootstrap out of date?
No. It is still maintained, with 5.3 current and 6 in alpha. It is less fashionable than utility-first CSS, but for admin screens it remains a sensible, quick choice.
Should we wait for Bootstrap 6?
Not if you need the work now. Moving from 3 or 4 to 5.3 removes the biggest problems, such as the jQuery dependency in Bootstrap itself, and alpha releases can change before they are final.
Can we skip straight from Bootstrap 3 to 5?
Yes. The class renames accumulate, but you only need to end up in the right place. We treat the screens as a rewrite of markup and don't step through version 4.
Can Bootstrap sit next to React or Vue?
Yes, though its JavaScript plugins change the page directly, which conflicts with how those frameworks work. We prefer to use its CSS with components written for your framework.

Which Bootstrap version are you on?

Tell us the version, roughly how many screens you have and whether jQuery is involved. We will explain what moving to 5.3 would take.
