Hire Shopify E-commerce Experts

Hire Expert Shopify Developers

Your Shopify store has grown a pile of apps and theme edits, or Shopify's own changes broke something your checkout relied on. We place a developer who works out what should be an app, what should be theme code and what should not exist, on a monthly or hourly rate. Shopify runs the servers, so what you are buying is judgement.

What a Shopify developer does once a store is live

A new theme is the visible part. The steady work on an established store is keeping the theme updatable, the app bill and page weight under control, and the checkout rules working on what Shopify supports today.

Audits themes and apps

Each app can add scripts to every page and may leave code behind after it is removed. The developer finds out what each one costs in speed and fees, then removes it, replaces it with a few lines of Liquid, or keeps it knowingly.

Moves checkout logic to what is supported

Shopify Scripts stopped running on 30 June 2026. Discount, shipping and payment rules now belong in Shopify Functions, and checkout changes in checkout UI extensions. Plan limits matter here, so the developer checks yours first.

Connects Shopify to your other systems

Orders to the ERP, stock back to the store, customers to the CRM, through the Admin GraphQL API and webhooks. It needs rate-limit handling, retries and reconciliation, because webhooks can arrive late, or more than once.

How to judge a Shopify developer in one call

  • Ask how they would add a feature without editing the theme in a way that blocks future updates
  • Ask what they would do with a store still depending on Scripts or checkout.liquid customisations
  • Ask how they would find which app is slowing the product page
  • Ask how they make a webhook handler safe when the same order arrives twice
  • Ask when they would tell you to buy an app rather than pay them to build one

Choose your developer level

Compare Shopify developer levels, experience, and monthly rates (160 h per month, retainer discount; USD, invoiced in USD, GBP, EUR or INR). Every level is available on hourly, monthly, or dedicated-team engagements; short pieces of work are from $20/h.

How a Shopify engagement runs

Your developer is part of our engineering team in India with 3โ€“5 hours of overlap with the UK and Europe; US calls by appointment.

What to tell us

Your Shopify plan, your theme, how many apps are installed and what other systems the store talks to. After a call we confirm who is free and a start date.

Hourly often fits a store

Many stores do not have 160 hours of work every month. Short pieces of work can be billed hourly, and you can move to a monthly developer when the backlog justifies it.

Migrations are quoted as projects

A move to Shopify has an end, so we scope it and give you a fixed price after assessing the catalogue, customers and order history. Our Shopify migration page explains how that works.

About our proof

Most of our work is delivered under NDA, so many projects cannot be named. Our published integration example is a WooCommerce store synced with Microsoft Dynamics, and the same care over data mapping and failed syncs carries over.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about hiring Shopify developers from itmarkerz.

Do you build custom Shopify themes or modify existing ones?
Both, and we usually suggest changing an existing theme first because it costs less and is easier to keep updated. A custom theme makes sense when your design can't be reached through sections and blocks.
Will the developer need access to our Shopify admin?
Yes, with limited permissions. We recommend the store stays under your account, with a collaborator or staff login for the developer that you can remove at any time.
Can the developer build a private app for our store?
Yes, when no app in the Shopify App Store fits. Note that custom apps containing Functions need Shopify Plus, so the plan you are on affects what the developer can build.
Can you migrate from other platforms to Shopify?
Yes, as scoped work. Products, customers and orders move by import, but passwords don't, and catalogues that don't fit Shopify's option limit need remodelling. Our Shopify migration page covers both.

Send us the list you have been putting off

Slow pages, an app bill that keeps growing, a broken discount rule, or an ERP that needs orders. We reply within one business day (IST) and tell you whether that is an hourly job, a monthly developer or a fixed-price project.
